About Roxy

Tony Race was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in the North East of England (Yes, surprisingly he wasn’t known as Roxy Risque in those early days) and his musical career started at the age of 7 when he learnt to play the piano.  Tony comments ‘My greatest critic was my granddad, who was also very musical and I am sure I take after him for that.’  Well, they do say these things run in the family.

Initially working in the Working Men’s Clubs around the UK, Tony then joined a Rock and Roll Band playing the piano before moving abroad in the 90’s as a Holiday Rep and working in Greece, Turkey, Mainland Spain, Malta and Dominican Republic for a tourist company.  He remembers, ‘I always took a singing part in the Rep’s cabaret shows!’

After this he moved on to become a children’s entertainer in a hotel but after doing that for a while it was time for a change.  As Tony says, ‘there is only so much of that you can take!’

In 1999 he moved to Tenerife and remains very happy there, entertaining folks from all over the world that come to visit him.  As Roxy Risque he Performs songs from some of his favourite artists such as Barbra Streisand, Liza Minnelli, Shirley Bassey and Eartha Kitt, Roxy believes that you just can’t beat the tunes that these ladies made famous.
